Alchemy web –
the hosted solution
1.1 Introduction
The Alchemy web license means you can access your Alchemy software
on the Internet. Alchemy web is a hosted service with the hosting
being provided by an Application Service Provider (ASP) whose
business is hosting software applications in exchange for a
monthly rental fee.
1.2 Key advantages
There are many advantages to a hosted service:
· Solution accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week from
any computer with Internet access;
· all customers can quickly benefit from software upgrades
and therefore always enjoy the latest features of the Alchemy
software;
· the customer does not have to invest in a server or
any hardware for installing the product as the servers and installation
are managed and provided by Nasstar;
· no need for customer to worry about maintaining a server
in–house as this is also done by Nasstar;
· the customer does not need to worry about software
installation or updates as this is done by Nasstar;
· the solution is more physically secure than installing
Alchemy software on your own office servers;
· the solution is technically more secure, benefiting
from the full technical strength and firewall security and NIDS
of a specialist Service Provider;
· the solution has High Availability – this means
there is built in redundancy in the system to ensure the service
is always up and running;

1.3 Physical security
The Alchemy web hosted solution is physically secure, located
in a state-of-the-art data centre which requires a swipe card
and PIN number to access the building. The building has 247
security presence and CCTV cameras throughout
1.4 Technical security
· as a customer of the ASP solution you benefit from
the expertise of Nasstar as a specialist ASP and the investment
Nasstar has made in its security and hosting infrastructure.
· Nasstar’s core network is protected by Cisco
firewalls – these have built in redundancy so if one fails
a second firewall automatically carries on working without any
interruption to the service
1.5 Service Level Agreement
As a customer of a hosted service you benefit from a Service
Level Agreement which guarantees 4 hour response and a 4 hour
fix to any problem with the service.
